Session drummer Coy Fuller appeared at Lowlands with Bobby Gracia and Gary Bailey in tow, looking for a place to work out their epic Zeppelin-meets-Tull brand of progressive rock. Gracia and Fuller had come up through Beaumont, Texas' garage ranks, clanging though middle school with Knights In Daze before finding regular work backing blue-eyed jester Troy Marrs as members of his Dynamics. But after a few years honing their chops on a steady diet of R&B, they longed to rock. Boot Hill would let them stomp around a bit. After adding some-time Brandy member Jeff Barnes on woodwinds and keys, the group set out to establish themselves as the Triangle’s loudest, heaviest band.
