Grand Prix's

After producing Edd Henry, Ed McCoy moved right into his next project - a local doo-wop group featuring brothers Donald and Larry Calloway: the Manhattens. The session was sonically a step down for Big Mack. Recorded in a garage live to two tracks, "The Feeling Is Mutual" is in-the-red throughout, with five voices battling for a spot over a muddy rhythm section and a flimsy guitar. The group would change its name to the Grand Prix's when New Jersey's Manhattans broke nationally. The Calloways immediately dropped doo-wop and embraced Detroit's new sound.
