John Smart's Band

Enlisting the help of the recently discharged John, along with what was left of the Smart Brothers Band, Richard cut “Don’t Hate Let’s Communicate.” The side did little more than give Kenneth Carr the privilege of calling himself a recording artist, though he never committed anything to wax again. Without a suitable flip, the group whipped up “Herbie’s Bag” and credited it to John Smart’s Band. Dick Smart reshuffled the deck for the fourth Solo single, rechristening John Smart’s Band as the unwieldy John Smart & His Smart Bros. Band in an attempt to capitalize on the family’s local renown.
