"The Extensions were an extension of my imagination," Pegue recalled in a 2004 interview with Bob Abrahamian. Perhaps he was imagining a world in which anyone was listening to his tinkerings. "This Love Of Mine," their first Nickel outing, is a gorgeous violin-enriched soul ballad with a doo-wop flavor featuring Lamonte Boston. Several of Pegue's productions sported B-sides entitled "Variations On A Theme." Credited to the Background Singers (Pegue was often vert literal), this one opens up with the Extensions harmonizing a cappella.
