The Soul President, while still technically music, was more enterprise than entrepreneurship. McCoy had nothing to do with the production of this record. Originally released on the tiny San Francisco imprint Uptight under the name Rhon Silva, this 45 is prime eccentric soul. Steel drum breaks and damaged Hendrix riffs proved too difficult of a sale in the Bay Area, but McCoy re-released the track anyway. He soon discovered Detroit wasn't ready for it either.
