From the brilliant mind behind Superfly, Shaft In Africa, and Dr. Black, Mr. Hyde comes Spirit Of Brotherhood, a six song suite of late-’70s orchestral disco. A passion project tracked on his own dime, maestro Johnny Pate enlisted vocalist Adam Wade and a cadre of now-forgotten musicians for the 1979 Sunset Sound session in sunny California. The gimmicky S.O.B. handle never made it out of the studio, Pate having no desire to shop his labor of love around the label or live circuits. “I did it as something that I felt like doing... and as time went on, I just never did anything with it,” Pate said. Nearly 40 years later, a small run of CDs were pressed for a rare performance with the Allen Sympony Orchestra, then quickly forgotten about in a Fairview, Texas garage.
