Spirited jingles from a vibrant and mythical bygone era when cowboys roamed North Hollywood. Reena Records founder Elizabeth Horton was crazy for Christmas music, penning dozens of original tunes over the course of the label’s unlikely ’60s run. Horton’s “I’ll Be Home For Christmas” shares a title with Bing Crosby’s 1943 hit, but little else. McGinnis and his Cactus Cutups keep a steady western swing pace, with flourishes of pedal steel and Bakersfield-style guitar leads.
