After spinning-off from The Royal Jesters in the mid-‘60s, Dimas Garza reinvented himself as San Antonio’s leading Chicano R&B crooner. Three singles emerged on the Clown label, all tracked at Abe Epstein’s Epp’s Studio, beginning with “So Funny” b/w “I Won’t Love You Again” in 1966. A carpet layer during the week, Garza never did manage to break Bexhar County limits, but left a rich legacy of soul music in his off hours.
