Goth Christmas might be over, but it’s never too late to don the black, light a few candles, and descend into madness. This trio of 7” singles get right to the spirit of Halloween, dressing up in disguises thrifted from a bygone era. Skullcrusher tackles The Hated’s 1985 early emo blueprint “Words Come Back,” Marissa Nadler plunges into Happy Rhodes’ ecto pop pool, and Codeine and Bedhead nail the always-difficult couples costume via their twin readings from Joy Division’s post-punk gospels. All three are housed in elegant black and silver sleeves, with embossed braille lettering for the visually impaired.
